Kerri True-Funk
Associate Director, Resolution Services
Kerri True-Funk originally hails from Central Illinois and returned to her home state to join the UChicago CARES team. Previously, she was the founding Executive Director of Rape Advocacy, Counseling, and Education Services in Urbana, Illinois, and the Director of Operations and Special Projects for the Iowa Coalition Against Sexual Assault. Most recently, Kerri held the position of Director of the Des Moines Field Office for the U.S. Committee for Refugees and Immigrants, leading it through the COVID-19 pandemic and the Afghan humanitarian crisis. She is the 2015 recipient of the Lois Haight Award for Excellence and Innovation from the Congressional Victims’ Rights Caucus.
In her free time, Kerri enjoys knitting, yarn shopping, and learning new techniques; she regularly has at least three works in progress. She relocated to Hyde Park with her partner, two small dogs, and a list of new places to explore. Her family also includes two young adult sons, one in graduate school and the other in the Navy. Kerri has a Master of Arts in Human Services from the University of Illinois at Springfield.
